‘Hello, my name is Georgia Flipo A.K.A Flip! I’m from Melbourne, Victoria and I’m currently studying a Bachelor of Music Performance, majoring in drums at Box Hill Institute of Tafe. I’m a drummer at heart but I love jumping on the guitar, keys, mic or even the DJ decks time to time! I love working with kids and I love passing on my knowledge, which helps being a part time drum teacher / rock star J. I’m currently in a few different bands ranging in genres from Alternative Rock, Acoustic and Electro.
Music is an integral part of my life and I hope to be pursuing it for as long as I live! Some of my favourite artists include The Rolling Stones, The Clash, The Cure, Jimi Hendrix, Joan Jett and The Blackhearts and plenty more. The SoundLab’s Lil Rockstar programs are an absolute joy to run especially along side Allara & Sarah, not only being great chicks but awesome musicians as well. Hopefully us here at The SoundLab will see you soon! Rock On!’
‘Hello, my name is Allara Pattison. I am originally from Bendigo, central Victoria but am currently half way through my second year at Box Hill Institute of TAFE, Studying a Bachelor of Music Performance and living locally in Box Hill. My first instrument is electric bass, but I also play guitar and am learning the double bass. I am a hard working student and love working with kids as part of what we do here at The SoundLab. In future I hope to complete a Diploma of Education, and study Aboriginal health in an effort to help “Close The Gap”. I myself am Aboriginal and my people are the Yorta Yorta people from Barmah, on the Murray River. My mum Sue Briggs is a primary school teacher and writes educational picture storybooks about Aboriginal culture. She is my inspiration and my rock. I love to play and teach music. My Funk/Soul band, Up Up Away gig weekly around Melbourne, often playing at venues such as The Evelyn, The Penny Black, The Espy, 303bar and The Workers Club, just to name a few. I am a proud recipient to a large Indigenous Tertiary scholarship, awarded by the Rotary Club of Balwyn to allow me to study here in Melbourne. I am very lucky as all of the other recipients were also as deserving as me and so here I am, trying to make the very best of my experience!’
