Welcome Teacher Michael Teo – Keys Lab
Michael Teo is our Monday Keys teacher – suited to Beginner / Intermediate / Advanced. He is available for Individual and Group Sessions by appointment.
Michael has been playing music since 1985. He is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, studio and session musician and music educator. After graduating from high school, he studied classical piano and composition at University of Melbourne, Conservatorium of Music from 1990-1995.
In 1996, he founded and performed with instrumental band Ping which performed till 2000, for which he played flute, guitar, bass, electric bow harp, oud and didgeridoo as well as composing much of the music. Some of their performances included Big Day Out, Offshore Festival, Earthcore, Melbourne and Sydney International Arts Festivals and Melbourne Fringe Festival for which they were awarded Best Musical Act in 1998. He has also performed with Monique Brumby and Gina G and has composed and produced music for 2 films and 9 plays.
Since 2008 Michael has played Erhu for and is assistant director of the Melbourne Chinese Philharmonic Orchestra.
As a Keys teacher at The SoundLab, Michael works with each student to clarify their musical goals and provide them with the tools to help achieve them.
