
Matt Woolhouse
Matt Woolhouse is our Thursday & Saturday Drum teacher – suited to Beginner / Intermediate / Advanced. He is available for Individual and Group Sessions by appointment.
Matt actually started off on bass guitar, but soon by default became the drummer for a high-school band at age 13. Matt relocated to Melbourne age 19 and soon successfully auditioned at NMIT for the Advanced Diploma of Music Performance and has since completed his Bachelor of Australian Popular Music Degree.
He has 6 years solid teaching experience and is also contracted through Creative Music and the Victorian Education Department. He has experience with large percussion ensembles, small group scenarios and one-on-one.
Matt has had some of Australia’s finest drummers as his teachers. Alex Deegan, Graham Morgan, Tony Floyd and Simon Barker. He finally really felt his confidence and ability in himself come forth with the legendary David Jones.
He’s played in many different bands from a Greek Wedding band to extreme thrash metal, to indie pop rock and the odd occasional jazz trio. He has recorded/toured Australia with; One Way Out, Muscle Car, Master Smasher, Lady Byron and currently DESECRATOR.
As a Drum teacher at The SoundLab, Matt works with each student to clarify their musical goals and provide them with the tools to help achieve them.
