Jordan Dearsley

Guitar/Bass/Piano

Jordan Dearsley is a performer, composer and teacher based in Melbourne, Australia. Having studied at Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School and continuing to VCA completing a Bachelor of Music in 2020, Jordan has completed extensive training on both guitar and bass guitar, covering a comprehensive list of guitar techniques with a focus on jazz and improvisation at both institutions.

Through his musical journey on guitar and bass spaning over a decade, Jordan has found himself in many diverse musical situations, most recently indulging in the new and hip sounds of modern jazz, funky soul, and hard-hitting cutting-edge heavy metal. Whether he is writing a highly involved Math rock guitar arrangement or demonstrating a basic E minor chord, Jordan jumps in with both feet and accomplishes with finesse. This versality allows Jordan to step into any session work and provide professional and distinctly unique guitar playing.

Jordan began his teaching career as a teenager and has since amassed a wealth of experience which has helped him to refine his teaching methodology to provide valuable guitar tuition for students of all ages, abilities and stylistic preferences.

As busy a teacher as he may be, Jordan invests most of his time into the musical projects he is involved in such as the George Baker Holland collective (a modern jazz quintet), Acacia Duo (an electric guitar and saxophone duo) and Ella and the Bell Boys (a corporate funk and soul band). In addition to these projects, Jordan composes the music the music for Cyprus (an extreme metal band) and his own solo project, recording his highly virtuosic playing through videos published on his social media platforms.

Jordan is enormously inspired to bring his expertise to the students at The SoundLab.
